Michael Douglas UW-La Crosse |
The Hollywood named HWT, made the NCAA Division III finals last year going 26-2 overall. Also an All American in 2023 with an 8th place finish, Michael Douglas heads into '24-'25 a two time Upper Midwest Regional finalist, who won last year's WIAC.
Carl DiGiorgio Kevin Pandorf USCGA |
Only a junior and already a two time NCAA Division III All American. 7th in the D3 nation in 2023, Carl DiGiorgio was 3rd this past season. 2nd & 1st within the Northeast Regional, he went 25-1 last year. He will be backed up by a tough Kevin Pandorf who went 18-4 on the season last year, picking up a 9-8 victory over qualifier Caleb Burkhart & an 8-4 decision over Mason Sprinkel.
Robby Bates North Central |
I was surprised, yet pleasantly delighted to discover that Robby Bates has another year of eligibility. 6th & 4th thus far in the D3 nation, he'll be among a strong class of candidates looking for the national title. A Lower Midwest Regional champion last year, he also won the Concordia (WIS) invite & thus far he's been 2nd & 3rd at the North Central Invitational. He won 34 matches last season.
RayShawn Dixon Ferrum |
Speaking of those that will contend for the NCAA Division III title this season. Many believe that RayShawn Dixon was cheated out of what would have been one of the biggest upsets in DIII wrestling last year in his controversial semi-finals loss to eventual champion Tyler Kim of Augsburg. Dixon would eventually finish in 5th. 3rd & 1st thus far in the Southeast Regional, the Panther is also a two time Pete Willson champ, a two time Cougar Open champion, and he also won the Citrus Invite. 34-2 on the year.
Dylan Waller Elizabethtown |
A Mideast Regional Champion & 6th in the D3 Nation, Dylan Waller also a champion at Petrofes, went 30-6 last season.
Walter West Cullen Quick Luther |
28 wins on the season last year, Watler West was 3rd in the Lower Midwest Regional & 7th in the D3 Nation. He also took a 3rd place finish at the Augsburg Invite & a 4th place finish among mainly Division I competition at the Luther Open.
Donovan King Boe Eckman Olivet |
An NCAA Division III finalist in 2022 & 5th in 2023, Donovan King came up a hair short last season of his third All American honor. A three time Central Regional runner-up, along with the intent to reclaim All American status, King will also look to become a four time Reginal finalist, looking to win his first title. Among his many accomplishments, he was also a Pete Willson finalist last year as well.
Also going to give a shout-out to Boe Eckman who went 23-5 on the season last year. Some impressive wins, which included a 0:19 fall over multiple time All American Doug Byrne, a 2:02 fall over Demetrius Hernandez & an 8-3 decision over Jadon Brownlee.
Adolfo Betancur Johnson & Wales |
22 victories on the season, Adolfo Betancur was 3rd at the Northeast Regional & the New Standard runner-up, finishing one match shy of NCAA Division III All American honors.
Mitch Williamson Wartburg |
Here's a guy that really stepped it up for the Knights last season. Didn't even start wrestling until the 1st of January & made the Lower Midwest Regional finals, losing in sudden victory in the match to All American at the NCAA Division III championships. Had a 4-1 victory over All American Walter West.
Caleb Burkhart Wilkes |
29 wins on the year, NCAA DIII Qualifier Caleb Burkhart heads into '24-'25 having posted 5th & 3rd place finishes at the Southeast Regional the past two seasons. He was also the Runner-up at the Wilkes Open.
Reid Garrison USMMA |
Another NCAA DIII qualifier from last season, Reid Garrison has thus far been 7th & 2nd at the Northeast Regional. 27 wins on the year, he had a 7-5 win over R12'er Adolfo Betancur & he won the New Standard Invitational.
Mason Slocum Adrian |
Yo, Adrian! He did it! Mason Slocum took a 3rd place finish at the Central Regional last season & punched his ticket to the NCAA DIII championships. Won 20 matches.
Josh Woodrey Augustana (ILL) |
23-4 on the year, Josh Woodrey was one match shy of NCAA DIII qualification as he finished 4th at the Lower Midwest Regional. Looked exceptionally good at Pete Willson, finishing in 3rd place.
Jackson Schichel UW-Eau Claire |
26 wins on the season, one match shy of NCAA Division III qualification, Jackson Schichel finished 4th at both the Upper Midwest Regional & the Pete Willson Invitational.
C.J. Krum Albion |
C.J. Krum enters '24-'25 having thus far posted 5th & 4th place finishes at the Central Regional. Among his 30 victories last season, a 4-3 decision over All American Walter West & a 1:11 fall over qualifier Mason Slocum.
Ed Guarcas Rhode Island College |
20 wins on the season, Ed Guarcas was one match shy of NCAA DIII qualification finishing 4th at the Northeast Regional and he was one match shy of a top 8 finish at the Pete Willson Invitational.
Jackson Brinker Cornell (IA) |
25 wins on the year for Jackson Brinker, he was 5th at both the Lower Midwest Regional & the Pete Willson Invitational.
Jadon Brownlee Ohio Northern |
Here's a guy to inspire you if you had a had a rough season last year. Jadon Brownlee won one single match as a freshman a few years ago. Last year? He won 25 matches, placed 8th at the prestigious Pete Willson & took 5th place honors at the Central Regional.
Jeremy Mazzella Ithaca |
5th at the Mideast Regional, Jeremy Mazella won a total of 29 matches last season. This included an 8-5 s.v. over qualifier Caleb Burkhart.
Abbas Abdulrahman Evan Day Haven Tatarek Castleton |
Castleton is not hurting for talent in the HWT class. They have three talented wrestlers, all Regional placement caliber, all threats to NCAA DIII qualification. Abbas Abdulrahman was the starter last year, putting together a 27-8 record. This included a 6-2 decision over R12'er Adolfo Betancur. 5th at the Northeast Regional, he was the Ithaca Invitational runner-up.
Evan Day himself went 24-9, with an impressive 11-3 victory over Jeremy Mazzella. Haven Tatarek won 18 matches on the year.
Officially Abdulrahman has both a 4-2 & 5-3 win over Day, as well as a 1-0 win over Tatarek. Day & Tatarek have split with Day winning via fall in 1:15 & Tatarek winning a 6-2 decision. So in other words, the battle for varsity will be a dogfight as much in '24-'25, as it was in '23-'24.
Logan Flynn Delaware Valley |
25-6 on the season, Logan Flynn had some impressive victories, including a 4-1 s.v. over All American Dylan Waller & a 10-6 decision over qualifier Caleb Burkhart. Flynn was 5th at the Southeast Regional.
Gunnar Garriques Chicago |
31 wins on the season, Gunnar Garriques was 5th at the Upper Midwest Regional. Finishing one match shy of a medal at Pete Willson, he took 3rd at the Concordia (WIS) Open.
Marquel Henry Ohio Wesleyan |
Also a Defensive End for the Battling Bishops, Marquel Henry won a total of 11 matches last season & took 6th place honors at the Central Regional.
Mason Sprinkel Norwich |
Here's a guy whom I'm surprised hasn't punched through to the NCAA DIII championships yet. He certainly has the talent & ability. Mason Sprinkel went 34-5 last season. A 4-2 victory over All American Dylan Waller, he stuck R12'er Adolfo Bentancur at the 6:46 mark. Thus far Sprinkel has been 5th & 6th at the Northeast Regional.

Darius Green Elmira |
23 wins on the year & a 7th place Mideast Regional finish for Darius Green.
Ben Katz Springfield |
23 wins on the year and a 7th place Northeast Regional finish for Ben Katz.
Jake Beistel Saint Vincent |
13-5 on the year, Jake Beistel placed 7th at the Southeast Regional.
Ka'Ron Lewis Ozarks |
Here's a guy who I think is so much better than what his end of the year finishes would lead you to believe. I'm not sure why the Lower Midwest Regionals haven't gone better for him than what they have. Failing to place in 2023 & finishing in 8th place last year, if we're talking ability and talent, I still believe Ka'Ron Lewis could finish in the top 3 within the Regional this season. You don't make the finals of the Citrus Invitational & place 4th & 6th at Pete Willson out of pure luck. This will be Lewis' final season to make things happen.
Steve Marra Mount Union |
Also a linebacker on the Raider football team, Steve Marra won 12 matches last season & took an 8th place finish at the Central Regional.
Seth Phillips Thiel |
20 wins on the year for Seth Phillips who took 8th at the Southeast Regional.
Leo Rabinovich SUNY-Cortland |
Going 11-1 on the season last year, Leo Rabinovich gave us a strong preview of what could be in store for the '24-'25 season. A 4:51 fall over qualifier Caleb Burkhart, he defeated Jeremy Mazzella 3-1 & Jackson Burns by a 7-2 score.
Evan Anderson NYU |
A 2023 NCAA DIII R12'er, Evan Anderson was one of the best wrestlers in the nation last season to come up short of a top 8 finish at the Northeast Regional. Nevertheless he still had some very impressive wins on the year including sticking qualifier Reid Garrison at the 1:44 mark & pinning Gunnar Garriques at the 2:25 mark.
Leno Campbell Millikin |
Leno Campbell was another super tough wrestler, who came up a little short of a top eight finish at the Lower Midwest Regional. 7th at Pete Willson he stuck qualifier Mason Slocum at the 4:31 mark, with both a 4-1 win over Ka'Ron Lewis & a 8-4 decision over Jadon Brownlee.
Mason Swanson Concordia (MN) |
A match shy of earning a top 8 finish at Pete Willson, Mason Swanson had an impressive 4:09 fall over Gunnar Garriques.
Jagger Schack Augsburg |
It's never easy to replace a superb talent like NCAA DIII champion Tyler Kim, but we can expect some great things out of Jagger Schack this season. 19 wins last year, he made the Augsburg Invite finals & he had a 3-2 tiebreaker over All American Walter West.
David Ortiz Elmhurst |
David Ortiz went 16-5 last season, including a 5:47 fall over qualifier Mason Slocum.
Gavin Thompson Pittsburgh Bradford |
21 wins on the season, Gavin Thompson is another tough talent to come up short of a top eight finish at the Mideast Regional. He had a 12-3 major decision over qualifier Mason Slocum.
